Think Pad T400s

Recently the Lenovo Think Pad T400s was released. The laptop is almost one pound lighter than the T400 and about 4-inch thinner. Even this one is lighter than the T43. I like this one. But it is too expensive to be affordable. I will turn to T400 shortly.

Good books on Solid State Physics

Solid State Physics by Neil W. Ashcroft, N. David Mermin
When I was taking the course of solid state physics. This book is my best favorite. I like the style of having more physics than math in this book. If the physics can be explained clearly in terms of words, then it will not turn to math. My professor has been complaining the chapter order of this book and he was using the content of this book while following the chapter order of another book "Introduction to Solid State Physics" by Charles Kittel as the following one.

Introduction to Solid State Physics by Charles Kittel
The best thing about this book is that it is well organized. The previous chapter is the foundation of the next chapter. In most universities, this book is chosen as the text book of solid state physics. I, however, do not like it too much since there are too much formulas in it. We don't know where the formulas come from. When you have this puzzling, please consult the book of Mermin. I prefer to think of this book as a reference book instead of the text book for a course. When combining this one with the Mermin's, you get the best.

Photocurrents in Nanotube Junctions

Phys. Rev. Lett. 93,107401 (2004)
This paper presents the quantum transport calculation of photocurrents in carbon nanotube p-n junctions under light illumination using a nonequlibrium Green function method along with the nearest-neighbor tight binding approximation.
The photon-electron interaction is taken into account by adding a self energy into the effective Hamiltonian of central scattering region.
